Kick-off “SMüR” project

Launch of the SMüR Project – Smart Mobility Hubs for Rural Areas

The project aims to develop a modular concept for smart mobility hubs. A prototype is to be built and tested at a location in the Mansfeld-Südharz district.

In addition to prototype construction, planning tools for smart mobility hubs are being developed. These tools will enable the assessment of needs, as well as the planning and configuration of individual modules and their assembly into a mobility hub within a 3D application.

Real-time data will be used to provide users with online information regarding the hub’s status, such as charge levels, utilization rates, and available capacity. The smart mobility hubs will feature an infotainment system providing access to tourism-related information and transit schedules.

Thanks to the modular design, various elements can be combined and expanded to meet specific regional requirements.

Representatives from all partners involved in the project—funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport under the mFUND program—along with representatives from the business community and political sphere of Saxony-Anhalt, met for a kickoff meeting in Lutherstadt Eisleben on August 26, 2022. Distinguished guests—Mansfeld-Südharz District Administrator Andre Schröder and Eisleben Mayor Carsten Staub—addressed the project team with welcoming remarks and outlined their expectations for the project at the venue, the Eisleben train station, which now serves as a conference hall.
