tarakos will be presenting at the 6th AutomationML Conference, taking place at Pforzheim University on September 22–23, 2026, under the theme “20 Years of AutomationML.” Christian Göbeler from tarakos will demonstrate how heterogeneous engineering data can be consolidated using taraXchange and AutomationML.
The presentation focuses on a challenge familiar to many plant planning projects: while tools for layout planning, mechanical and electrical design, simulation, automation, and commissioning excel within their respective domains, they each bring their own distinct data structures and terminologies. Consequently, whenever engineering data needs to be reused beyond a simple tool-to-tool interface, linking these disparate information models becomes increasingly complex.
The presentation builds upon the DIAMOND project, which established a cross-disciplinary common data model serving as a shared reference for engineering information throughout the entire plant development process. From tarakos’s perspective, the presentation highlights the practical mapping required to connect existing engineering tools to such a common data model: the taraXchange software enables the transformation of heterogeneous engineering structures, attributes, and relationships via configurable mapping rules and their exchange via AutomationML—all without requiring the participating tools to adopt an identical internal data model. The presentation positions this mapping layer as a key building block in the transition from isolated tool-to-tool interfaces toward scalable, model-based interoperability across a broader engineering landscape.
