Launch of the “Skill-based Crane Assistance” project

Project Launch: “Skill-Based Crane Assistance for Process Cranes in Hold-to-Run Mode”

TARAKOS GmbH is participating as a project partner in a research and development project focused on the digital integration of skill-based crane assistance for process cranes operating in hold-to-run mode.

Process cranes in the steel industry handle molten materials and semi-finished products under demanding conditions. The project aims to execute load-handling operations—either fully or partially—as automated movements to a target position while in hold-to-run mode.

To this end, TARAKOS is developing planning, simulation, and visualization functions to improve engineering processes, as well as visual tools to assist with and monitor operations.

This collaborative project is being conducted jointly with Kranbau Köthen GmbH and the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation (IFF), running from January 2026 to December 2027.

The project is co-financed by the European Union.
